On Sunday, May 8, the concept reel for Cycles and Revolutions was showcased at “An Evening of Kosher Film and Photography,” an event exhibiting art from young Jewish filmmakers and photographers that was organized in association with the LA Jewish Film Fest. Despite a the technicality that it isn’t actually a short film, the concept reel took second place in the short film competition!
The most rewarding part of it was the reaction of people who came up to me afterwards not just to compliment the project, but to tell me their own personal connections to the subject. Whether they are of Ashkenazi descent and have their own family history with the revolution, or they just felt inspired to ask their parents and grandparents about their own histories, it was gratifying to have an impact on the audience.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who came, supported, and voted for Cycles and Revolutions. It was amazing to see so many people’s passion for the concept reel and excitement for the film. We promise to do you proud.
