We are happy to announce that Professor Jeffrey Veidlinger has agreed to be interviewed for the film.
Professor Veidlinger is Director and Alvin H. Rosenfeld Chair of the Jewish Studies Program at Indiana University, Bloomington. His first book, “The Moscow State Yiddish Theater,” won both the National Jewish Book Award and the Barnard Hewitt Award for Outstanding Research in Theatre History. His second book, “Jewish Public Culture in the Late Russian Empire,” explores the growth of Jewish secular culture during the last years of the Russian Empire.
I look forward to talking to him about what life was like for the different strata of Jews living in the late Russian Empire, what were the conditions the lead to the Jewish intelligentsia and intelligentsia’s active involvement in the revolutionary movement(s), and what effect that ultimately had on them.
