With the first half of filming now completed, efforts on the film now turn away from my own family’s history to focus on the wider experience of other ex-Soviet Jews affected by the Revolution. In mid-April, I will be documenting the “Everything is Illuminated” program, returning to the former Soviet Union with a group of Jewish young adults seeking to discover their roots and cultural identity. Their experience on this sojourn can only aid my own understanding of the effects the era had on modern Soviet Jewry, and so I look forward to capturing this final facet of ‘Cycles and Revolutions’. I am excited and honored to be a part of this journey.
